hold concentrated hydrochloric acid next to a strong Ammonium hydroxide solution and you will get clouds of smoke because in this case its 2 gases reacting to produce a solid. HCL (from the acid) and Ammonia (from the Ammonium hydroxide) react together to make ammonium chloride (the white smoke) no water involved this time.
