AlCl3 (aq) + 3NH4OH (aq) β†’ Al(OH)3 (s) ↓ + 3NH4Cl (aq)

It is a double displacement and precipitation reaction in which aluminium chloride and ammonium hydroxide react by an exchange of ions to form two new compounds, aluminium hydroxide and ammonium chloride.
