when amoeba is placed in a hypertonic medium it shrinks. Why?

Because water from the hypertonic medium enters the amoeba and thus, the water makes it shrunken.

Hypertonic solution have high solute concentration so all water material excreted out of the amoeba due to Hypertonic environment and it shrinks....
