if it is sold in rs. 60 there was loss

but when it was sold at rs. 81 profit occur double the loss

then ,

let the cost price be x

2 ( x - 60 ) =81 - x According to question ,

2x - 120 = 81 - x

3x = 201

x =67

so the cost price of article is RS. 67

Answer:

The cost of the article is Rs.67.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1

Let the cost of the article be x.

If it is sold for rs. 81, the profit becomes 2 times the loss. So, the equation will be 2( x-60)=81-x

Step 2

Solve the equation above.

2x-120=81-x

Combine the like terms.

2x+x=81+120

3x=201

x=67.

Hence, the cost of the article is Rs.67.
