Yes an atom can become a positive ion and when it will become positive ion ,radius of that ion will be less than the atom's radius

as positive ion means a plus charge means the number of protons are more than no. of electrons as one electron or more have been taken from the ion to make it a positive ion also called cation so they will attract the electrons with more force as electrons are less in comparison of protons therefore the radius will be less as atom as an ion now will shrink.

Hope it helps buddy!
