As the height of a building increases, the frequency of the same becomes lesser. Similarly, high tension electric poles are also prone to low frequency. The low frequency in turn affects the strength of these buildings and poles to a great extent. Therefore, when there is an earthquake, they are prone to the maximum damage. Thus, standing near a high rise building can cause it to fall on you when there is an earthquake. Similarly, in the case of an electric pole, the low frequency can cause faster discharge of current. When there is an earthquake, the current discharge takes rapidly and standing near it can cause you to experience electric shock.
