When an electromagnet has an iron core removed what happens to the strength of the magnet?

Electromagnet is a combination of a core ( soft iron ) and a solenoid . Soft iron core can be easily magnetised so solenoid and core produce a powerful magnetic field . If the core is removed , the strength of the magnetic field decreases.
