when electron jump from Higher orbit to lower orbit the energy is lost . while when electron jump from lower orbit to the higher then the energy is gained by the electron .

here according to question the electron is jumping from 4 orbit to 2 orbit that means it is jumping from higher to lower orbit and therefore the energy will be lossed by the electron .
