Explanation:
When a body is falling freely then the only force acting on it is gravitational force by the Earth .(assuming of course that the body is on earth.)
now since the force of gravity is consistent i.e it does not change.(change is negligible)
since F=ma (by Newton's second law)
force is constant ,mass is anyway constant , so the acceleration gained by the body must also be constant. i.e it's uniform.
hence we can say that a free falling body experiences a uniform acceleration.
that happens to be 9.8 m/s²(approx.)
