When an object follows a circular path at a constant speed, the motion of the object is called
'uniform circular motion' The word uniform refers to the speed which is unifom throughout the
motion However since the direction of motion is continuously changing its velocity is changing
continuously it means that the motion has some accerlation. For an object moving with a constant
speed v along a circle of radius 'r', the acceleration a=v^2/r=rw^2 and it is directed along the radius
towards the centre of the circle .Due to this reason the acceleration is known as centripetal
acceleration.
(A) uniform circular motion is an accelerated motion because
(a)speed change
(b)magnitude of velocity change
(c)direction of motion change (d) force is perpendicular to the motion of body
(B) the directions of velocity vector and acceleration vector for a particle in uniform circular motion
(a)along tangent vector, along radius vector inward
(b)along radius vector, along tangent vector
(c)along radius vector, along radius vector outward
(d)along tangent vector ,along tangent vector
(C)The expression for centripetal acceleration in vector form
(a)ac vector= w×v
(6) ac vector=v×w
(c)can not express

(D) The acceleration vector of a particle in uniform circular motion is uniform This statement is
(a)true
(b)false
(c)without direction cannot say (d)not possible
