When an object goes in straight line then

the displacement is "ZERO" .

The object goes forward .

manochasahil282005: wrong
manochasahil282005: its not zero
manochasahil282005: it can be zero if it went 10m ahead and came back in the same direction 10m then only it could be ZERO

yes, we know the short path between initial position and final position is called displacement.

A . B

A is initial point.

B is final point.

this is a Distance as well as displacement because the definition say.

AB=DISTANCE, AB =DISPLACEMENT (+Ve) Distance =Displacement
