When an object is placed at a distance of 50 cm from a concave spherical mirror the magnification produced is minus 1 by 2 where should the object be placed to get a magnification of -1 by 5

Magnification(M) by lense =v/u

As object distance is given as 50cm thus u= 50cm

Thus M=v/u here M is (-1/2) and u=50cm

Hence v=(-1/2)*50=-25cm

Now new magnification (M1)=(-1/5) and v from above solution is -25cm

Hence M1=v/u

(-1/5)=(-25)/u

u=125cm
