Magnification = image distance / object distance

The magnification in this case = - 0.5

Object distance = 50cm

-0.5 = i / 50

i = 50 × 0.5 = 25cm

To produce a magnification of - 1/5 = 0.2

Given the image distance = 25

25/o = 0.2

Where O = is the object distance

25 = 0.2O

O = 25/0.2

O = 125cm

Answer 125 cm
