When an object moves with uniform speed, it is said to have zero acceleration. But I think that an object moves with zero acceleration only when it has some initial speed. Is my perception correct?

Yes but in uniform motion the body has to have a particular speed at all times otherwise it won't be in uniformotion. Uniform motion occures when a body covers equal distances in equal intervals of time, if the speed of the body is not the same it won't be able to reach the next point in time. For example if a car is moving at 10km per hour and it reaches point A and it continues this speed and reaches point B but then it starts moving at 50km per hour it will reach point C way earlier than he reached point A or B. So in conclusion a body must remain a constant speed to be in uniform motion
