When an unpolarised light of intensity i is passed through a polaroid what us the intensity of the linearly polarizied light ? Does it depend on the orientation of the polaroid ?

Yes definetly. 

The electric field vector which are parallel to the transmission axis of palaroids get transmitted and other which are perpendicular to other.
