when and how did agriculture start along with the river valleys?

Because valleys tend to have water and fertile farming land, making them good settlement areas. Most modern cities are on waterways.
However, many ancient cities varied from this. When Europeans “conqured” South America they went looking for settlements in areas that they would use. Many inca cities are on mountain tops so were completely missed by the conquistadors. This helped give rise to tumours if lost cities and accounts for the genuine ones, like Macchu Pichu that were missed.
