ANSWER
Bengal divide
announced by Lord Curzon, the then Viceroy of India in July 1905. This partition came into effect in October 1905
REASON
The Hindus of west Bengal, who controlled most of Bengal’s commerce and professional and rural life, complained that the Bengali nation would be split in two, making them a minority in a province including the whole of Bihar and Orissa.
They regarded the partition as an attempt to strangle nationalism in Bengal, where it was more developed than elsewhere.

Hey Mate
Bengal was divided in 1905 by Lord Curzon.
The decision to effect the Partition of Bengal was announced on 19 July 1905 by the Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon. The partition took place on 16 October 1905 and separated the largely Muslim eastern areas from the largely Hindu western areas.
Governor of British in India observed that it was the vast territory, so administration didnot function properly. It needs a fragmentation or division of British-India in its territorial boundary.
Muslims were in favour of this partition relieving them from lower condition under the Hindu hegemony. So, partition of Bengal was held under the auspicious of Lord Curzon, British viceroy of India in 1905.
This created a huge political crisis among the Hindu- Muslims and Governor rules also which lead to
Disheartening Muslim community
Protest by the so-called Hindu nationalists
Amar sonar Bangla written by Tagore
we may find out that partition of Bengal was the demand of Bengal Muslim people who were lived mainly in the Eastern part of United India. Muslims were highly undermined by the Hindu Zamindars, and other Hindus in the case of political, economic and all types of cultural contexts. Muslim had no right in expressing their views at that time. For being powerful part, Hinduism made greater protest against Governors rule and Governors were compelled to reunite the Bengal in 1911. As consequence, Muslims in Bengal, furthermore, remained under the control of Hindu hegemony.
