Indian National Congress was founded on 28 December, 1885 by a retired British officer named Allan Octavian Hume.
Soon it became the largest political party of India and the only platform for the educated Indians, where they could share their views.
Though initially it was established to familiarize the Indians to the British politics and culture, the feeling of nationalism was induced into it by Dadabhai Naoroji, a Parsi social and political leader.
