Primary oocyte is formed in ovary of the female foetus(which will develop into female baby).

At the stage of embroyinc growth the gamete mother cell inside the ovary of foteus undergo meiosis(chromosome number becomes half) but there development stops in prophase and these oocytes are called as primary oocytes. When the girl reaches puberty many primary oocytes degenerate and the leftover become secondary and then tertiary follices and finally graffian follicles and then ovulation, release egg reaches ampulla.

Gonadotrophins are released from anterior pitiutary,it helps in development of follicles .That releases oestrogen and helps in ovulation.LH and FSH are at there peak level to help in ovulation.
