Lord Dalhousie annexed the Oudh on 7th February 1856 due to the following reasons:
- Lord Dalhousie, the general of the British empire ordered to depose Wajid Ali Shah on the account of alleged misrule internally.
- It was in line with Dalhousie's Doctrine of Lapse and thus the British would take over a kingdom if there was misrule.
- Moreover, the Kingdom of Awadh was annexed in February 1856.
- However, Awadh was annexed to the report of mismanagement. On the other, Punjab was annexed by war.
- Also, the annexation of Nagpur was undertaken beacuse the king died without an heir.
- Lastly, Nizam's province was annexed due to the king being unmarried.
