The first battle of Panipat was on 21st April 1526. It was fought between Babur, the ruler of Kabul, who had invaded Punjab and northern India, and Ibrahim Lodi, the last ruler of the Lodi dynasty. Ibrahim’s defeat marked the end of the Lodi dynasty and the beginning of the Mughal dynasty.

It was fought on November 5, 1556. It began when Bairam Khan (the regent) and Akbar, the young emperor, marched to Delhi to reconquer it from Hemu, the general of Adil Shah. It resulted in the death of Hemu and the solidification of the hold of the Mughals in the subcontinent.
