It is a type of Double Displacement reaction in which their is exchange of ion between barium chloride and sodium sulphate is take place and barium sulphate is formed as white precipitate as well as sodium sulphate is formed.

It is also known as precipitation reaction because of the formation of insoluble precipitate.
