The chromatin condensation occurs and chromosomes becomes more visible in the nucleus. The DNA protein complex is called as chromatin. The mass of protein and nucleic acid combination forms chromosomes.

Each chromosomes contains a single stranded piece of DNA along with protein packs. These chromosomes are made of chromatids and repeated chromatins are called as nucleosomes.

This arrangement of chromatids not only allows the large amount of DNA to fit in to space but also it allows the gene regulation.
