When the electric field in homogeneous dielectric between two wide and flat metal plates which are placed in parallel with each other and charged with the same magnitude and opposite signs

When the electric field in homogeneous dielectric between two wide and flat metal plates which are placed in parallel with each other and charged with the same magnitude and opposite signs.Then the electric field lines are parallel to each other.

OR

The fact that the force experienced by a test charge is nearly in same direction at close points and hence we know that the direction of field lines due to force experienced by a test charge placed in electric field is along the direction of force and hence nearby points have same direction of force .Therefore the electric lines of force are parallel to each other
