This helps to reduce the irritation. when an ant bites it leaves acid called METHANOIC ACID which is acidic in nature ,so when we rub baking soda which is basic in nature ,it neutralizes the effect of ant sting

because when ant bits us it's sting release methanoic acid ( formic acid ) .

sodium bicarbonate is a base ..

so if we apply sodium bicarbonate it neutralise the effect of acid .. and we get relief from pain ....
