Calcium nitrate is deliquescent in nature.
Deliquescent substances absorb moisture from air and become a complete solution.
Hygroscopic ones absorb moisture and become wet but not solution

This is simply because of the hygroscopic nature of calcium nitrate whereby it will absorb water from the atmosphere and form a solution.being hygroscopic means that the solid material attracts moisture from the environment and therefore leads to weakening of the bonds between the solid by water .Therefore it is the moisture that moves into the solid .
