Here's your answer mate:-

Calcium floats on water because when it reacts with water it forms calcium hydroxide and releases hydrogen gas .Now this hydrogen gas released during the reaction gets attached to the surface of the metal means to the surface of calcium therefore it appears to float on water.

The reaction of calcium with water is not very violent. SO, the heat released is not sufficient for the hydrogen to catch fire. Calcium starts floating because the bubbles of hydrogen gas which are formed during the reaction stick to the surface of the metal and hence caclium floats on water.
