If the starting and ending points coincide with each other, then geometrically the distance between them is zero. Hence, the displacement is also considered to be zero in such cases.

For example, when an object is moving in a circular path and makes a complete round, then the object finishes its journey at the same point where it has started the journey. So, displacement is zero in this case.
