Cv represent molar specific heat capacity of an ideal gas at constant volume and
Cp represent molar specific heat capacity of an ideal gas at constant pressure.
Cp - Cv = R
But when the ‘c’ is written small letter in cp and cv then it implies specific heat capacity of the gas at constant pressure and specific heat capacity of a gas at constant volume respectively.
cp - cv = nR {where n = no. of moles}
