Basically, stalled DNA replication fork will activate the S phase checkpoints where it is ensured a proper replicationof the genetic material. If this checkpoint is somehow missed, the another checkpoint at G2 phase re ensure proper replication devoid of any DNA damage prior to initiating the mitosis cycle.
