The reaction between chlorine andcold dilute sodium hydroxide solution is: NaClO3 is sodium chlorate(I). The old name for this is sodiumhypochlorite . Actually the product depends upon the fact whether NaOHused was dilute andcold/concentrated and hot. If Chlorine react with cold NaOH , it gives NaCl & NaOCl.
