When coal burns it leaves ash behind ash so produced is lighter than the coal which has burnt justify the decrease in mass in the light of law of conversion of mass

the coal is made up of co2

so when it burns it converts into carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide

because of which only the state changes but the amount remains the same
