Yes, it does. And in versions Microsoft Office 2010 and above whenever you copy and paste a text from another document or from the internet, it copies the formatting, along with it, also shows three options - one to keep just the text, one to keep the source formatting (the formatting from where you copied), and one to keep the destination formatting.
