Answer:

Nitric acid(HNO3) is a strong oxidising agent. The Hydrogen gas produced during its reaction with metal gets oxidised to H2O, hence no hydrogen gas is produced.

Instead it evolves nitric oxides such as NO2,NO etc.

Nitric acid is strong oxidizing agent.

No Hydrogen gas will not be evolved.

1) As the nitric acid is a strong oxidizing agent, so when cu reacts with nitric acid it will oxidize the H₂ to make H₂O.

2) The oxidizing nature of the nitric acid, when it reacts with any metal it produces a salt with water and nitrogen dioxide gas.

The chemical reaction of the situation:

Cu + 4HNO₃ ---> Cu(NO₃)₂ + 2NO₂+ 2H₂O
