Pervez Musharraf was the 10th president of Pakistan. He took control of the Pakistan government on October 1999 through a coup d'état but allowed the sitting president Rafiq Tarar to remain in office until June 2001. In June 2001 he officially appointed himself president of Pakistan.

Therefore he came in power in October 1999 but he officially became president on 20 June 2001.
