In 1833 Santa Anna become President of Mexico. Santa Anna in 1835 repealed the Mexican constitution which led to the beginning of the Texas. Santa Anna reasoning for the repeal was that American settlers were not paying taxes for which he took more taxes from Texas settlers for this reason the Texas settlers were angered on him.
