Mariners blame the ancient mariner because they were considering that the fog and mist they facing is because of terrible deed done by the ancient mariner by the shooting the albatross.

The ancient mariner had done a wrong deed of killing an albatross without any reason.he was the prime sinner....The Mariners criticised him when they were stuck in the midst of the silent sea.
Yes, it was correct to do so because the albatross was a harmless creature which did not even provoke him
