When they went further up the trail and were 5,400 meters above the sea level, the narrator got an awful headache. His chest felt heavy as he gasped for oxygen. He tried his best to sleep but in vain. Almost the whole night, he kept awake. Tsetan took the sick author to Darchen Medical College where, he was given a five-day course of Tibetan medicine, which helped him to get well. Extreme cold weather, poor roads, lack of proper transport, boarding and lodging facilities. At Darchen he fell severely ill because of cold and altitude. He had difficulty in breathing. The previous night he had not been able to sleep because of the blocked nostrils.

When they were at about 5400 metres above the sea level, the road was covered with snow and the author felt his head throbbing horribly. He took some water from the bottle, which was to help a rapid ascent.
