Neutralisation reaction occurs when an acid comes in contact with a base.
Thus, both nullifying each other's effect
react further to form a salt and water.
The basic form of a neutralisation reaction is
Acid + Base --- Salt + Water
For example
If hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide come in contact with each other they then react to form sodium chloride and water.
HCl + NaOH --------- NaCl + H2O.
