In 1815 , representatives of the European powers-Britain, Russia,Prussia and Austria - who collectively defeated Napoleon met at Vienna to draw up a settlement for Europe.
This was known as Vienna Congress.
The Congress was hoisted by the Austrian Chancellor Duke Metternich.
OBJECTIVES:
⭕ The treaty of Vienna (1815) was drawn with the objective of undoing most of the changes that had come about in Europe during the Napoleonic war.
✔️The Bourbon dynasty was restored to power and France lost its territories annexed under Napoleon.
✔️A series of states were set up on the boundaries of France.
✔️The kingdom of Netherlands,which included Belgium was set up ni north, Genoa was added to Piedmont in south.
✔️ Prussia was given important new territories on its western frontiers ,while Austria was given control of north Italy.
✔️Russia was given a part of Poland while Prussia was given portion of Saxony.
