A few years ago, my friend and I went shopping. My friend had a habit of shoplifting. She had got into trouble because of it several times, but almost always the shopkeepers let her go for her apparent innocence and youth. I told my friend to be careful but she paid no attention to me.
This time, we were at a cosmetic store and she casually slipped a lipstick into her pocket. The manager however, instantly noticed that a lipstick was missing. He came around to enquire about it and as soon as my friend realized he’d noticed the missing lipstick, she quietly slipped it into the salesperson’s bag.
The manager kept searching for it and I wanted to tell him but I knew that if I did, my friend would definitely get into trouble. It was our final year of school and any disciplinary action would have had long-term consequences. So, I chose not to speak up and give my friend one last chance.
