When do we consider the acceleration to be positive and negitive give an example

when u r in constant motion or ur velocity increases continuously then u consider acceleration positive. But when ur velocity decreases continuously u have a negative acceleration.

For example when a train is starting from a station it has positive acceleration while it goint to stop at any station it has negative acceleration.
