When do we have to draw a KINK in the graph?

A kink denotes the missing divisions.
For example, while drawing an ogive, if the class interval starts from 40–50, 50–60, 60–70 etc, then it is not feasible to mark the divisions starting from 10 as you will run out of the graph paper when you reach the last interval. Also, it wouldn’t look good as the ogive would start from 40 and the space left before it would be empty.
So a kink basically “compresses” the axis, pulls the starting division (40 in this example) near the origin and reduces that empty space before the graph in order to fit the curve in the given graph paper.
hope it help
