when Some force acts and the place is changed then work is done because Work = F×D
if u apply force and no distance is covered then no work is done for work the distance should be changed from Its original position to new position.
if u apply force on a truck stationary then no work is done because your force is not much to move the truck and no distance is changed therefore no work is done

We can say that work is doing at any small thing that we are working is small thing it have to be must clear that work is not a very big thing work is a small thing also the work is cleared by small thing like washing hands thinking they all come in the work.
