Reported Speech = 'Tomie said (that) she was tired.' In reported speech weneed to use the past tense form of the verb. In direct speech the present tense is used. As you can see, in the above sentence 'am' changes to 'was' when we use reported speech

We use Direct Speech when we want to tell our friend about the speech spoken by the speaker.
Example; Kumar said, "I can do it".
We use Reported Speech when you want to report the speech to someone about the speaker speech indirectly.
Ex. Kumar said that he could do it.
Example; Kumar said, "I can do it".
We use Reported Speech when you want to report the speech to someone about the speaker speech indirectly.
