Explanation:

Whenever there is coalition government and the party leading has less seats than required for Majority, regional parties and its leadership become more powerful even though they don’t have any brains (like Mayawati/Lalu/) for national politics!!

Answer:

Explanation:Till 1989 Congress was the only national powerful party. Even the other national parties then we're not as powerful. Regional parties c were dependent on Congress. After 1989 the regional parties changed their strategy. Each of those regional parties developed strong affinity to a leading caste. Thereby they got unquestionable support from those castes. Because of the strong support these regional parties looked case if very powerful. These regional parties win elections with less than 30% votes in multi-cornered contest.

Laluprasad of RJD, won three consecutive terms. SP, and BSP, were alternating in UP with less than 30% votes. TDP, and TRS, too look powerful but they got around 30% votes only. But this myth has been proved wrong by BJP, when it demolished SP, BSP, RJD, RLD, in their own den. BJP, also put to naught the identity politics. As of now apparently the regional parties look indomitable, but actually they are hollow and live in the fear of being washed out.

As of now DMK, in Tamil Nadu is losing ground, so also SP, BSP, and RLD in UP, BJD in Odissa. The only regional party which is not affected and remain strong is TMC of West Bengal. Even the once powerful Shiv Sena has been losing ground. All these regional parties were powerful between 1989 to 2014. After 2014 the importance of these parties are diminishing.
