fame and an excessive need for admiration are usually associated with narcissistic personality disorder, so if the person strives to accomplish both of em no matter what are the consequences or the pain she/he might inflict on others, it leads to disastrous scenarios. With simple disregard for other people's feelings. Hence losing both fame and all social connections in the process
