ANSWER:- Proper noun need to use an article when we use geographical terms like ocean, river, building etc.
"The" is used before a noun that can be clearly identified by readers it is called a definite article. "The" is also used before most popular proper nouns and some singular proper nouns.There are three articles "a", "an" and "the".

- Generally no article is used before proper noun but when we compare between two proper nouns then 'the' is used before the major comparison : Bankim Chandra is called the Scott of Bengal.
- Here 'Bankim Chandra' has been compared with the 'Scott of Bengal'. The major comparison is the Scott of Bengal.
- The is also used before the name of the grand object of nature and so on : the moon, the sky, the Gita, the Raj Bhavan, etc.
- Moon, sky, Gita, Raj Bhagavan all are Proper Nouns.
