The partition took place in the year of 1947.

Bangladesh got separated from India as the Muslims from India wanted a separate state.

Hence the Indian Muslims were given a separate state i.e., eastern part of Bengal(East Bengal) and after independence it was a province of Pakistan and was known as East Pakistan,while the western part had Hindu majority and was a province of India i.e.,West Bengal.

In the year of 1971, East Bengal got independence and has become a separate nation.
