When does the ball reach the same height as that of original height in Galileo’s experiment?

When the inclination of plane 2 is more than plane 1
When the inclination of plane 1 is equal to plane 2

ANSWER

Given the ball is projected perpendicular to the line of greatest slope .

⟹ The ball is projected on the inclined plane parallel to the horizontal .

There is no acceleration in this direction and hence , 8 m/s remains constant in this direction .

Component of acceleration downwards the incline is gsinθ

Velocity in this direction as a function of time is Vy=gsinθ∗t

Hence , total velocity is =82+g2sin237∘=64+36=10 m/s .
